Concertina Cruinniú Programme 2019

The Concertina Cruinniú is an annual community non-commercial event organised by Oidhreacht an Chláir to promote the musical and cultural heritage of Clare.

Free admission to The Music Makers of West Clare for students.

Students and visitors must arrange their own accommodation and transport. There is a wide variety of accommodation in the Miltown Malbay area.

Lecture & Recital: The Musical Legacy of Tommy McCarthy, curated by Tommy Keane with music by the McCarthy family. Venue: Westbridge Bar & Restaurant.

Cosán Ceoil in selected pubs. With some of the leading concertina players and other musicians.

Saturday, 16 February

9.00am

Registration for classes at St. Joseph’s National School, Mullagh Road.

9.30am

Grading will commence.

10.00am - 1.00pm (Short Break 11.30am)

Classes for all grades at National School, Mullagh Rd. including:

  • Master class with Noel Hill. Pre-registration required.
  • Comh-Cheol Consairtín (Concertina Ensemble Class) with Jack Talty. Pre-registration required.

All classes will be overseen by Master Tutor Noel Hill and conducted by a panel of experienced musicians and tutors: Edel Fox, Bernie Geraghty, Mairead Hurley, Noel Hill, Claire Keville, Caoilfhionn Ní Fhrighil, Liam O’Brien and Jack Talty.

Chance a Tune with Jacqueline McCarthy, (option to try out the concertina for free)
